- Split the room into rectangles (and triangles or circles if needed).
- Enter each shape. Choose "Subtract" for parts to leave out, like a chimney breast.
- The total appears in both square metres and square feet.
The formula
Rectangle = length × width
Triangle = base × height ÷ 2
Circle = π × (diameter ÷ 2)²
1 m² = 10.7639 ft²
Any flat room can be split into these simple shapes. Add the areas together and subtract anything that isn't part of the floor.
Tips before you buy
- Measure to the wall, not the skirting, and measure twice.
- For an L-shaped room, split it into two rectangles along the inside corner.
- Use the total in the tile or flooring calculator with "Enter the area".
